James Sacré, who was born in 1935 on a farm in western France, has published over one hundred books in ordinary editions and at least as many art books. He is also, said one critic, the only contemporary poet whose work can be found in every public library in France. While many of Sacré's poems have been translated into English, some in magazines or anthologies in the US, Canada and the UK, some in small art books in France, this is the first time that a whole volume of his poetry is finally appearing in English along with a companion volume of the French original. Some Objects Stay with Us (Or the Other Way Round) is translated by David Ball, whose versions of Henri Michaux and Jean Guéhenno won prizes for outstanding literary translation.

Biographie ou Bibliographie de l'auteur :

James Sacré est né dans une petite ferme vendéenne et a longtemps vécu aux États-Unis, où il a enseigné dans une université du Massachusetts (Smith College). Il a aussi promené (et retrouvé) son village natal en de nombreux autres pays.
David Ball, professeur émérite au Smith College, a obtenu de nombreux prix pour ses traductions. Il a traduit notamment les œuvres d’Henri Michaux, Jean Guéhenno ou Alfred Jarry. Il est également l’auteur de deux volumes de haiku, "The Seasons in the Park" (L’Atelier du Grand Tétras, 2017) et "Le Haïku se met à table" (L’Atelier du Grand Tétras, 2019). En 2017, il a été nommé Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes académiques.
